The Principal Officer is appointed in accordance with the Medical Aid Funds Act, No. 23 of 1995 and serves as the custodian of the Fund’s governance and compliance.

Operating independently from the Fund Administrator, the Principal Officer’s primary responsibility is to ensure that GEMHEALTH is managed prudently, transparently, and always in the best interests of its members.

 

In fulfilling this role, the Principal Officer provides strategic oversight, supports the Board of Trustees in executing its fiduciary duties, and ensures that all operational, financial, and regulatory obligations of the Fund are met in line with NAMFISA requirements and good corporate governance principles.
